About me
I am married, father of two. I am a Christian believer. I make my living as a rehabilitation director in a hospital system, and simultaneously cultivate many, many interests and hobbies outside of work. Nothing but my day job makes me any serious money, although hobbies often absorb enough of my “free” time to alarm my wife. I very much enjoy, for example, seeing, holding, using, and producing hand made things, and will eagerly take a crack at just about anything, from welding to watercolors.
Music is one of the mainsprings in my life. Our family is very musical—piano, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, hammered dulcimer, and voices, fill the house continuously. My wife is the least musical of us, but even she eventually caught the bug and at the advanced age of 45, began singing. She surprised us (and herself!) with a clear, sweet, and uncomplicated voice, perfect for hymns and other acoustic living-room music.
We live in “the country” on a sizable piece of property in the Pennsylvania Endless Mountain region. Our land is a diverse mix of woods (conifers and hardwoods), scrubby meadow, pasture, a small hay field, and a pretty nice little swamp. We maintain a small but productive vegetable garden, plus keep a family milk cow, at least one beef steer, a small flock of chickens, and whatever-else-at-the-moment animals. We home-school the kids (my son is now in college), home-church, and generally limit our contact with popular culture. No TV here for example, except for rented videos.
That’s me (and us) in a nutshell.
